A Canadian housewife takes on Scotland's famed long distance walk. Nails it, obvs.
I'm a 42 year old stay-at-home-mom. A few years ago, I got it in my head to walk the 96 mile West Highland Way.
My husband and I work from home and are self-employed, and the kids are almost 9 + 12, making them a bit more self-sufficient and less dependent on him: ideal parameters for my escape to the Highlands. Plus, no bears or cougars (just this one).
I walked it alone in April 2018, and I adored every step. I felt safer in the Highlands for 200+ kilometres than I do on a walk home from the local after pints! So, consider this a rough guide. If this bearer of high blood pressure, beholder of an overweight, mostly out of shape body, and allover asthmatic wheezebag can do the West Highland Way? Alone?
Sweet Mother of Mountain Goats, chances are super high that you can too.
Go do it.
